A sampling of a few of my favorites:
“Nothing takes the taste out of peanut butter quite like unrequited love.”
One of the ultimate bitches of life – unrequited love. Never experienced it? You’re lucky. Nobody ever wants to have a “one that got away”. But you know, if they got away, they weren’t meant to stay in the first place. You may still love them, but what you can’t see is the reasons why the Universe kept you apart. And you probably never will. Some things are just meant to stay a mystery.
“In the Book of Life, the answers aren’t in the back.”
Or the front or the middle. Though some answers can be found in the supplemental book titled “Tragedy”.
“I”m already tired tomorrow.”
And since this year so far seems like year two of 2020, I’m already tired this year.
“Worrying won’t stop the bad stuff from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.”
Appropriate subtitle: “An Ode to Mothers Everywhere.” Love you mom! (aka the Queen of All Worriers)
“What if today we were just grateful for everything.”
And lately, at the very least our health.
“I think I’m afraid of being happy because whenever I get too happy, something bad always happens.”
Spoken like a true realist. I hear ya Charlie Brown. Gotta work on that positive thinking thing.
“I’ve developed a new philosophy. I only dread one day at a time.”
I’m down with this philosophy. It makes the dread a lot less…dreadful.
“It’s just human nature. We all need someone to kiss us goodbye.”
Yep, someone, anyone (well, not just anyone, I mean, be a little discriminating). But maybe a partner, friend, sibling, parent, even pets.
“Sometimes I lie awake at night and ask ‘where did I go wrong’, then a voice says to me ‘this is going to take more than one night’.”
More than 47 years worth of nights even.
“There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real!”
Who can’t relate to this one?
“My anxieties have anxieties”
I’m anxious about all my anxieties.
“Incidentally what is happiness?”
Good question.
“What’s the good of living if you don’t try a few things.”
And try them twice I always say.
“All his life he tried to be a good person. Many times however, he failed. For after all, he was only human. He wasn’t a dog.”
“Just remember, when you’re over the hill, you begin to pick up speed.”
Like a skier caught in an avalanche.
“Be yourself. No one can say you’re doing it wrong.”
And if they do, fuck em!
“Happiness is a sad song.”
I LOVE sad songs. Depress me!
The following I’ve included because it’s just plain funny:
“Charlie Brown got hit with a line drive!”
“Does anyone here know anything about first-aid?”
“It’s probably not serious…second or third aid will do.”
Thank you Charles Schulz!
