I'd vote for him

Public Service Announcement

Can we be done with political ads already?  I mean c’mon.  Every year around this time all I see are commercials with the same message:  “vote for so and so because the other guy pretty much sucks balls.”

How come we as a society haven’t moved past this bullshit yet?

Watching political ads is like watching two elementary school kids call each other names on the playground.  “But he started it!”

Grown adults trashing each other on tv/social media/billboards – they should be embarrassed.  I’m embarrassed for them.

This is why I hardly ever vote. (I know, I know *groan)  Also, because the last person I probably would have voted for, Bernie Sanders, dropped out of the presidential election in 2020.  He knew it was futile.

Maybe I should just move to Vermont.

As for every election that isn’t for the President, I never know who 99% of the candidates even are anyway.  They all say they’re the ones who are finally going to create change and improve the lives of us regular folks for the better.  I’m a regular folk and I can say I haven’t seen shit for change in 50 years.

If anything, I’ve only seen it get worse.

Abortion has been repealed for God’s sake! What fucking year are we in?

But I’m suppose to believe that this time, you, Mr./Ms. Candidate Awesome are finally the person we’ve all been waiting for to ease our struggles, lift our burdens, and help make society better?

Yeah right.  No thank you.

I have a better chance of winning the Powerball.

These ads where the guys/gals trash talk each other just make me lose all respect for them.  I can’t even discern what they stand for or believe in because they don’t have time to tell me that in a 30 second commercial where all they do is point fingers and put up graphics of old newspaper articles of the other’s atrocities.

And why do the pictures of those articles always look like they were secretly taken by James Bond with a camera that also doubles as a cigarette lighter?

I know these ads will never go away.  And neither will the waste-of-time signs people put on their front lawns.  I never got that.

So if I’m driving by your house and see a sign for a candidate you like, that’s supposed to make me vote for them?

I like candy corn (yeah, we’re a rare breed), so should I put a sign in my yard supporting my favorite polarizing Halloween candy in the hopes it will make you like it too?

Gimme a break.

So to all those who watch tv and/or drive, good luck out there.  It’s a tough time of year for all of us.

Happy Halloween!
